Gregory Burns slipped into the fabric of Asia in 1984, concluding a cloistered existence painting the beauty of the California Dream. Setting sail for Taiwan he opted for total emersion while studying Chinese brush painting and calligraphy with local masters. With a smattering of Mandarin and paint brushes he began a summer backpacking trip through China, Tibet, Nepal, India and Pakistan, which stretched into a 16-month sojourn. While seeking out numerous sacred sites, his artwork began referencing the different religious and architectural imagery of the region.

Swimming in the 1992 Barcelona, 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games and capturing five world records with six gold and silver medals nurtured his intimate understanding of blue and green.

Completing his Master in Fine Art at the close of the millennium, he learned the value of yellow ochre and the vitality of red. Through traveling and casting a wide net, Gregory continues to pull in a diverse collection of colors and imagery with which he tries to synthesize and portray the power of the human spirit. The passion he once reserved for sports has now been directed into his art.

Gregory holds an MFA in painting and has exhibited in seventeen countries throughout Asia, Europe and America for over thirty years. Over the past twelve years he has been the Artist-in-Residence at twenty 5-Star Resorts across the globe. Gregory has published two books in English and Mandarin and has been featured on CNBC, ESPN, CNA, CCTV and in The AWSJ, Time Magazine and The China Daily.
